I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember. I had my first ballet lesson at the age of 3, and was hooked ever since. Throughout my adolescence I continued to dance and train in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical and hip-hop. My journey led me to the Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts where, as part of the Dance Conservatory, I studied modern, ballet, choreography, and even human anatomy under an incredible faculty. I later continued on in my dance education as a Modern Dance Major at the University of Utah. I was excited to start my journey in performing and teaching dance, but after a life-changing injury my career was almost cut short.
I thought that my career had ended, but soon learned you can’t keep a dancer away from dance! My Colombian roots led me to the amazing world of salsa – which started as a hobby, turned into a passion, and finally blossomed into a love affair. My infatuation and dedication have turned it into my career. I have traveled to congresses all over the country instructing, performing, competing, and branding myself as a professional and passionate dancer with the formal education and technique to support it.
I currently reside in Seattle, where I am the Owner, Operator and Creative Director of Studio Azul Seattle. Dance is always evolving, and I continue to educate myself through weekly classes and conditioning and set myself apart by competing (and placing!) in prestigious competitions such as The World Latin Dance Cup (top 10), LA’s Top Female Solo (top 3), LA’s Bachata Solo (top 3) Ladies Team Showdown (first place) and the Ultimate Latin Dance Cup (top 3). I know that this is only the beginning!
Work hard and do all things with heart.
